About Ownbeing.

Ownbeing helps people protect their identity, make their wishes clear and take part in the decisions shaping an AI world.

Why we exist

Why we created the card

A person’s voice, likeness and life story are more than inputs for a system. They belong within a conversation about consent, dignity and choice.

Our instruction card is a practical place to begin. Our wider work asks how AI can improve lives while people retain a meaningful say in their future.

What Ownbeing does

01 / Protection

Make choices actionable.

Clear instructions, practical guides and a route to ask about support when identity or data is misused.

02 / Education

Help people understand.

Explain emerging capabilities, their limits and the decisions people can make for themselves.

03 / Public dialogue

Ask the difficult questions.

Bring researchers, technologists, artists, policymakers and the public into conversations about human agency, relationships and work.

Independent in purpose. Open about support.

SEED is our founding member and main sponsor. We welcome other founding members, funding members and sponsors who share our mission.

Our work must be free to question commercial interests, including SEED’s. Independent oversight, transparent funding and separate decisions about individual cases are central to the governance we are putting in place. Committee appointments and funding arrangements will be published as they are confirmed.

Connected by a mission. Each with its own role.

Ownbeing

The foundation works for people, whether or not they use SEED. Its focus is protection, education and better public decisions about AI.

SEED

The company is building a private home for your digital life. Using its product is a separate choice. Your Ownbeing card does not create a SEED account or give SEED permission to create an avatar. Explore SEED ↗

Transition

The series explores these questions through human stories about life with AI. Fiction gives space to examine what we want, what we fear and what we owe one another. Explore Transition ↗
